(A) For all lawn irrigation system installations a permit shall be required. Such a permit shall be issued by the Building Inspection Department. Installation requirements must comply with the current City Plumbing Code and/or guidelines for the appropriate device found in this subchapter. Interconnections of the potable water supply with an alternate water source is prohibited unless appropriate backflow prevention is installed. High hazard backflow protection devices must be installed if any mechanical injection stations are used with the irrigation system.
(B) Installation of the “appropriate device” found in this subchapter and related appurtenances, must be located a minimum distance of three feet from each side or corner of the city’s water meter box (i.e., services connection).
