§ 31.079 DEPUTY CLERK.
   (A)   There is hereby created the office of deputy clerk in and for the village. The village clerk is hereby authorized to appoint 1 or more deputy clerks with the advice and consent of the village board of trustees as shall be needed to efficiently run the office of village clerk.
   (B)   The deputy clerk shall have the power and duty to execute all documents required by law to be executed by the village clerk and to affix the seal of the village thereto when required. In signing any documents the deputy clerk shall sign the name of the village clerk followed by the word "By" and the deputy clerk's own name and the words "Deputy Clerk". The deputy clerk shall act only in the absence of the village clerk from the village hall and only upon written direction when it has been given by the village clerk or when the board of trustees shall have determined by resolution that the village clerk is temporarily or permanently incapacitated to perform his powers and duties.
   (C)   The term of office for the deputy clerk shall be for a period of up to 1 year, ending on April 30 subsequent to his or her appointment. The deputy clerk shall serve without pay.
