For the purpose of this subchapter the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
PAWNBROKER. Any person who loans money on deposit or pledge of personal property, who deals in the purchase of personal property on condition of selling the same back at a stipulated price or who makes a public display at his place of business of a sign generally used by pawnbrokers to denote their business, to-wit: "Three gilt, more or less yellow balls," or other sign of like kind of nature, or who publicly exhibits a sign, "Money to loan on personal property, or deposit or pledge", or other sign of like kind or nature.
