§ 72.56   BOARDING, LEAVING OR OCCUPYING VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION; WHILE STOPPED.
   (A)   Manufactured home. No person shall occupy any travel trailer or manufactured or mobile home while it is being used as a conveyance upon a street or highway.
   (B)   Penalty. Except as otherwise provided in this division, whoever violates this division (A) of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to one predicate motor vehicle or traffic offense, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. If, within one year of the offense, the offender previously has been convicted of two or more predicate motor vehicle or traffic offenses, whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree.

   (C)   Boarding or leaving vehicle in motion. No person shall board or alight from any vehicle while such vehicle is in motion.
   (D)   Boarding or leaving stopped vehicle. No operator or passenger of any motor vehicle shall leave or enter such vehicle, or otherwise open any door of same on the side next to a moving lane of traffic unless such movement can be made without danger of causing an accident by reason of a passing vehicle, lawfully using the highway, striking the open door or the person entering or leaving, or swerving to avoid same.
   (E)   Passengers on vehicles.
      (1)   No person shall ride on any vehicle on any portion thereof not designed or intended for the use of passengers when the vehicle is in motion, nor shall any operator knowingly permit the same to be done.
      (2)   This provision shall not apply to an employee engaged in the necessary discharge of a duty, or riding within a truck body in space designed for merchandise.
