Any person, firm or corporation who shall undertake work pursuant to a permit issued under the provisions of this chapter, or to perform work under contracts with the town or by virtue of permission obtained from the Town Manager, or the Manager’s designee, in accordance with the provisions of codes and/or ordinances of the town, shall be answerable for any damage occasioned to persons, animals or property by reason of carelessness or negligence connected with such work.
