Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of Electrical Inspector and/or assistant electrical inspector and Council deems it necessary to authorize the Mayor to employ by private contract an individual to fulfill the duties of the Electrical Inspector and/or assistant, that individual so employed by contract shall have the same authority, powers and duties as the regular Electrical Inspector and/or assistant. If such employment by private contract occurs, then wherever the term Electrical Inspector and/or assistant appears in this Electrical Code, such contract designee shall be substituted therefor.
