(A) Any person desiring to perform any of the work of a journeyman electrician shall make an application in writing to the Electrical Inspector for a license to engage in such work.
(B) An applicant must have four years practical experience as an electrical trainee or the equivalent in training or education and he may be given credit for training in electrical engineering or an electrical trade school. Practical electrical experience in areas where licenses are not required will be considered, when such experience can be verified. An applicant holding a valid journeyman electrician's license issued by another political subdivision, when such license was issued after such journeyman electrician successfully completed a test based on the National Electrical Code, will be eligible for examination. The Board of Electrical Examiners shall determine eligibility for examination based upon the requirements of this section and shall afford each applicant an opportunity to present evidence as to his qualification.
(C) An application for examination shall be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of thirty dollars ($30.00). If the applicant passes the examination, a license shall be issued without additional charge.
(D) An applicant who fails an examination shall be eligible to apply for re-examination at the next scheduled examination date. If an applicant fails the examination a second time, he will not be eligible for re-examination for a period of six months from the date of the original re-examination. Further re-examinations will be permitted on an annual basis only. All re-examination applications shall be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of twenty dollars ($20.00). If the applicant passes the re-examination, a license shall be issued without additional charge.
(E) An applicant who passes an examination will be issued a license valid for the balance of the calendar year to engage in journeyman electrician work. Such license may be renewed annually, on or before January 15th of each successive year after its initial issuance, upon payment of a fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) to the City.
(F) All applications to take an examination or re-examination for a journeyman electrician's license shall be filed thirty days prior to any regularly scheduled examination. Applications received after such date shall be considered for the next regularly scheduled examination.
