No person shall erect any awning or canopy, any part of which covers the windows or doors on the ground floor of any building in the City and any part of which extends or will extend over any sidewalk or portion thereof in the City, without first securing a permit therefor from the Building Commissioner. The fee for such permit shall be five dollars ($5.00) and shall be paid by the person applying therefor. No awning or canopy shall be erected which does not comply with the requirements of these Codified Ordinances.
