848.06   CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS; REPORTS.
   (A)   The Mayor shall have the authority to issue a permit, upon proper request and payment of the fee specified in Section 868.01, for the solicitation upon the streets and other public places within the City of gifts, donations and contributions for the use, maintenance, and benefit of local hospitals, of veterans' organizations composed of men or women now or formerly identified with the Armed Services of the United States and of other accredited patriotic, educational and philanthropic organizations, associations, institutions and societies. Such solicitations may be in connection with the sale, distribution or giving away of tags, flowers or similar devices.
   (B)   The application for such permit shall be filed by a duly-authorized representative of the hospital, veterans' organization, or other group requesting the permit. If required to do so by the Mayor, the applicant for such permit shall give any other pertinent information concerning the purpose for such request.
   (C)   Within ten days from the time such solicitation is made, a written report showing the amount of money collected shall be filed with the City Auditor by the permittee. Failure to file such report may be grounds for denying permit requests by such group during the succeeding year.
