(A) It shall be the duty of the Human Relations Commission to do everything practical to eliminate prejudice and the practice of discrimination against individuals because of race, color, creed, sex or national origin, to enlist the cooperation of private groups in the community in carrying out this program, to promote the establishment of community organizations whose objective is to reduce prejudice, tensions, disorder and discrimination, to cooperate with State and Federal agencies in the alleviation of prejudice, tension and discrimination, to publish materials aimed at educating the community on means whereby discrimination can be reduced, to investigate, through its own initiative or as a result of complaints received, discriminatory practices and to assist, consult and advise the City on any of the above matters.
(B) The Commission shall establish regular meeting dates and regular meeting days, elect its own officers and adopt, by majority vote, rules and procedures for conducting such business as may come before it. It shall annually report its activities to Council.
