The Fire Department shall be permitted to go out of town and assist other fire departments as provided in the mutual aid contract now in existence and as may be amended from time to time, upon request of such fire departments when needed in such fire districts; provided, that the town is not left without adequate firefighters and equipment for fire protection in the town.
