(A) Each person driving a taxicab within the town or between the town and points not incorporated within a radius of five miles of the town shall obtain a permit.
(B) Before issuance of permit, the following provisions must be complied with:
(1) Each person requesting a permit shall present his or her driver’s license to the Town Manager for a driver’s license check by the Police Department. Any violations indicated on such check will be grounds for nonissuance of a permit; and
(2) An annual fee for such permit shall be as shown in the town’s fee schedule. Each permit shall date from June 1 of the year when issued and shall expire on May 31 of the following year. However, if the permit is issued after January, 1, the fee shall be one-half of the amount required.
