§ 52.205 ACCESS TO METERS.
   (A)   Authorized town employees shall have the right to enter any property on which town water is used to inspect, adjust, read, repair or remove water meters or appurtenances in connection with the water meters at any reasonable time. Any user specifically authorizes such entry.
   (B)   Only the town or the Public Works Department may access water meters. If a user is identified as accessing a water meter pit and adjusting or shutting off the water meter in any manner, the Public
Works Department shall lock the meter pit. Any person or user identified as accessing a water meter pit and adjusting or shutting off the water in any manner, will be fined in accordance with the town’s utilities fee schedule. Any person or user identified as breaking a lock installed by the Public Works Department shall be prosecuted.
   (C)   In an emergency, only plumbers with appropriate and active state licenses on file with the Clerk-Treasurer may access water meters and pits for emergency repair purposes. The licensed plumber shall contact the Town Hall or the Public Works Department prior to accessing and completing any work.
