This chapter provides regulations that are intended to protect and maintain the quality of life and an environment that is both safe and pleasant. This tree chapter encourages beautification, air-cooling, noise abatement and enhancement of property values as a result of the planting and management of trees within the community. It also enables the Village to avoid unnecessary costs associated with sidewalk replacement, clogging of sewers with roots, tree related accidents and utility conflicts and provides direction for tree care by Village forces, professional tree care operators, utility workers, and private citizens. This chapter provides guidelines for the planting, pruning, replanting, maintenance and removal of "street trees" in or on the "tree lawn" or within the public right(s) of way and on other property owned by the Village of Lexington, Ohio.
