§ 70.01  PARKING IN EXCESS OF CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME PROHIBITED; TOWING AUTHORIZED.
   (A)   No person shall park any vehicle on any street within the corporate limits of the city continuously for a period of time for more than seven days.
   (B)   The Police Department, when it observes a vehicle which appears to be abandoned or inoperative, and the vehicle is parked upon a public way within the corporate limits, is authorized and directed to make an effort to notify the owner to remove the vehicle from the public way.  In the event the owner cannot be ascertained, or if the owner is notified and the owner then does not take any action to remove such vehicle, the Police Department and all members thereof are hereby authorized to remove and tow away or have removed and towed away by commercial towing services any car or other vehicle illegally parked in any place which the Police Department determines to be in violation of this section.
   (C)   The owner of a vehicle which is removed from a public way pursuant to division (B) above will be charged for the towing and storing of the vehicle, said charges to be reasonable or agreed charges. The person who tows the vehicle and stores same is to be entitled to a statutory lien provided for in KRS 376.275.
