§ 90.26 IMPOUNDMENT OF RABIES SUSPECTS.
   Any dog or cat which has bitten any person and caused an abrasion of the skin of the person, shall be confined by the owner or other responsible person as required by the city for a period of no less than ten days, at which time the dog or cat shall be examined by a licensed veterinarian. If no clinical signs of rabies are observed by the veterinarian, the dog or cat may be released from confinement. The animal shall not be vaccinated against rabies during this ten-day period. If the dog or cat is a stray without identification tags, the animal shall be humanely euthanized and tested for rabies if the animal is not claimed by its owner after 24 hours notice is given by posting the notice at the city municipal building, Valley Green Square Shopping Mall and city police station describing the dog or cat and setting forth the approximate time and date that it was picked up.
