9-1-6: WATER METERS:
   A.   Metered Water Required: All premises using the village water supply must be equipped with an adequate water meter furnished by the village but paid for by the consumer. (1966 Code § 16.301)
   B.   Installation Of Meters: Meters shall be installed in a location that will be of easy access. The installation of fences or other obstructions so as to enclose the location of water meters is hereby prohibited. The owner of the property being served or the current applicant for such service, if different than the property owner, is hereby required to pay the reasonable cost for the relocation of such an enclosed water meter to a location of easy access outside of the fenced in area or otherwise obstructed area of the property. The charge for such relocation shall be the responsibility of the property owner or applicant for service, if different than the property owner, and such charge shall be added to the water bill issued following the relocation of such water meter. Such charge, if not paid, shall be treated as any other nonpayment of water bill, including shutoff, lien, and foreclosure, and other penalties as set forth in this code. (Ord. 6-2002, 2-5-2002)
   C.   Reading Meters: The village treasurer shall read or cause to be read every water meter used in the village at such times as is necessary that the bills may be sent out at the proper time. (1966 Code § 16.303)
   D.   Testing Meters: All municipal water meters shall be taken out and tested upon the complaint of the consumer, upon payment of a fee of two dollars ($2.00). If, upon testing, the meter is not within three percent (3%) of accurate, it shall be repaired, and the two dollar ($2.00) fee returned to the consumer. (1966 Code § 16.304)
