9-1-4: CONNECTION TO WATER SYSTEM:
   A.   Application To Connect: Application for water service connection to the village water mains must be made at the village hall, by the owner of the property to be served, upon forms furnished therefor. Such application shall state the official building number and street name of the premises, the size of the service line, the approximate location where the water service shall enter the premises and such other information as may be reasonably required by the village.    B.   Connection Fees:
      1.   Single Meter:
         a.   At the time of making application for connection, the applicant must make payment to the village in accordance with the following schedule:

         b.   The aforesaid fee shall cover the cost of tapping into the village water main, the cost of the meter and its installation and the installation of the curb box.
      2.   Additional Meters: If the application is for multi-family property requiring more than one meter, the applicant shall pay at the time of application the following additional fee:
         a.   The additional fee of three hundred fifty dollars ($350.00) per meter for each additional three-fourths inch (3/4") meter.
      3.   Water Meter Only: If the applicant requires a water meter only, the fee shall be seven hundred fifty dollars ($750.00). (Ord. 2-06, 4-4-2006)
   C.   Responsibility For Installation And Repair Of Connection:
      1.   Responsibility Of Village: All fittings, pipes and appliances from the water main to and including the meter and curb box shall remain the property of the village and shall at all times be accessible to the village and under its control.
      2.   Responsibility Of Applicant:
         a.   The service line from the curb box or meter to the applicant's premises shall be laid and maintained by the applicant at the applicant's own cost. The service line shall be of ample size, and of standard weight and quality, and all cutoffs, valves, fixtures and appliances furnished by the applicant shall be maintained in good order and condition.
         b.   All leaks in the service pipe or any other pipe or fixture on the premises of the applicant shall be immediately repaired. Upon failure to repair such leak, the service may be discontinued until repairs are made. The village shall in no event be responsible for maintaining any service line owned by the applicant, nor for any damages done by water escaping therefrom nor for defects in lines or fixtures on the property of the applicant.    D.   Connection Requirements:
      1.   Permit And Notice Required: No connections with a water main shall be made without a permit being issued and twenty four (24) hours' notice having been given to the commissioner of public property.
      2.   Supervision: All such connections shall be made by or under the supervision of the commissioner of public property. (1966 Code § 16.105)
      3.   Prerequisites: Before connection is made with the water distribution system, the premises to be served must be equipped with a meter and buffalo box properly installed on the service pipe. When the meter is located within a building, copper service pipe only shall be installed from the buffalo box to the meter and shall be at least four feet (4') underground.       4.   Inspections: No installation shall be covered until it has been inspected by the commissioner of public property and found to be satisfactory. (1966 Code § 16.105)
