All questions of the application of the terms of this title shall first be directed to the Alderman or other person selected by the Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, who shall act as the Zoning Official. It shall be the duty of the Zoning Official to enforce this title and amendments hereto. Appeals from the Zoning Official shall be taken to the Zoning Board of Appeals. All building and zoning applications shall be obtained from the Zoning Official and returned to the Zoning Official for processing. The Zoning Official shall:
A. Review all applications for building and zoning permits and maintain records thereof and direct the applicant to apply to Sangamon County for necessary inspections and permits after initial zoning review.
B. Establish and administer rules and regulations for proceedings, together with regular forms for such proceedings, for processing variances, and for recording those matters and things required by this chapter to be recorded, and collect fees as may be required by this title.
C. Receive and file copies of all applications for variances on which the Zoning Board of Appeals is required to pass under this title.
D. Maintain a record of all variances granted by the Zoning Board of Appeals.
E. Make available to the public information relative to all matters arising out of this title and post all public notices called for in this title. (Ord. 417, 3-28-2017)
