8-1-1: BUILDING CODE:
   A.   Codes Adopted: The International Building Code, 2006 edition, and all amendments thereto, and the International Residential Code, 2006 edition, both published by the International Code Council, Inc., are hereby adopted by reference as and for the building code of the City, pursuant to the provisions of 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/1-3-1 et seq.; provided, that any reference in said codes to the "building official" shall be read as meaning the Building Official of the City or its designee; and provided further, that in the event any of the provisions of said codes are in conflict with State law or with any other ordinance of the City, the State law or other City ordinance shall prevail. In addition the following codes as utilized by the Sangamon County Department of Public Health are adopted by reference: 1997 Illinois Accessibility Code or the most current edition by State statute; 2004 Illinois Plumbing Code or the most current edition by statute; 2005 National Electrical Code; 2009 International Energy Conservation Code.
   B.   Copies On File: Upon the effective date hereof, three (3) copies of said codes are on file in the Office of the City Clerk for use and examination by the public, and at least one (1) copy shall be kept on file in the Office of the Building Official for public inspection.
   C.   Penalty: Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of the codes adopted by this section shall be subject to a Class B violation and fine as provided in section 1-4-1 of this Code.
