Whenever a city police officer has cause to believe that a motor vehicle is subject to impoundment pursuant to section 6-2-10 of this chapter, the officer may provide for the towing of the motor vehicle to a facility authorized by the city.
Vehicles not retrieved from the towing facility or storage facility within thirty five (35) days after the administrative hearing officer issues a written decision, as provided in section 6-2-14 of this chapter, shall be deemed abandoned and disposed of in accordance with the provisions of article II of chapter 4 of the Illinois vehicle code, or as elsewhere provided for in this code.
