A. Burning of yard waste, garbage, construction materials, etc. is prohibited. Fire pits are considered recreational fires. They should be a sufficient distance from the structure or combustible materials to protect from wind or other source reaching the structure. For portable outdoor fireplaces, the standards shall also apply.
B. Both types of open burning (for all properties) must meet the several conditions that follow:
1. Must use only dry wood or charcoal fuel;
2. Must be kept to a manageable size (three foot (3') diameter or less/ two foot (2') height or less);
3. Must have extinguishing capability readily available (garden hose/fire extinguisher)
4. Must be constantly attended until completely extinguished;
5. Must be kept between the hours of seven o’clock (7:00) A.M. and eleven o’clock (11:00) P.M.;
6. Burning is not allowed during high winds (in excess of twenty (20) mph);
7. Burning is not allowed during times of high fire;
8. There is no imminent health hazard to persons in the area. (Ord. 257, 3-26-1990; Ord. 443, 9-22-2020)
