All regular members of the Police Department shall be issued a revolver or automatic pistol approved by the Chief of Police. Each officer shall be issued a prescribed amount of ammunition and no further issue of ammunition shall be made until and unless a written report covering the use of such ammunition be made and submitted to the Chief of Police and in turn submitted with the Chief's monthly report to the Mayor, who shall report to City Council as he deems advisable. The same shall be submitted for inspection, and the member shall be qualified for use of firearms by a training course adopted by the Department.
