All original appointments shall be for a probational period of one year from the completion of the Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) or one year from the date of hire if already certified. Continuance in service shall be dependent upon the conduct of the appointee and the officer’s fitness for the performance of the duties to which the officer is assigned as indicated by the quality of the officer’s work and the reports and recommendations of the officer’s superior officers. If, during the said probationary time period the appointee proves unfit, the officer will be dismissed from the service by the Mayor.
