Exterior pavement areas for subbase preparation shall receive base and subbase materials conforming to the following unless otherwise shown.
(A) Coarse aggregate subbase. Use one of the following:
(1) If the coarse aggregate material has sufficient fine particles to produce a surface that is free of voids and free of exposed aggregate particles greater than 3/8 inch in size, the coarse aggregate material may be used for the entire subbase and base system without addition of a fine aggregate base material.
