(A) The city shall pick up recyclable materials as part of its garbage and refuse services. This service shall be available to City of Lawrenceburg residents only. Any recyclable materials originating from a non-resident shall not be picked up and shall be subject to penalty of law.
(B) Recyclable materials subject to pick up shall be limited to the following:
(1) Acceptable materials for recycling.
Plastic Bottles & Containers
Plastic Cups with Lids Attached Aluminum, Steel & Aerosol Cans
Cartons
Glass Bottles & Jars with Lids Attached
Cardboard (flatten) including Pizza Boxes with No Food Attached Newspaper, Junk
Mail, Mixed Paper of All Colors & Types
Shredded Paper in Clear Bags Only
(2) Unacceptable materials for recycling.
Bagged Recyclables
Plastic Bags or Plastic Wrap Hoses, Cords, Leashes or Wires
Styrofoam
Scrap Metal
Batteries
Ceramics
Prescription Bottles or Lids
Any Other Items Not Listed as “Acceptable” Above
(C) The city will provide one 95-gallon curbside recycling container at no cost to each City of Lawrenceburg single-family residence. Residents of multi-unit properties shall be provided a recycling 16x20 tote bag for each unit. Containers will be officially assigned to the address and may not be transferred. Any lost or damaged containers shall be replaced by purchase from the city at an amount equal to the city's cost of replacing the container. A second recycling container may also be purchased and will be serviced at no additional fee.
(D) Recycling materials must be placed loose (not bagged), clean and dry in a City-approved curbside container as described in division (C) above for pickup. Tote bag contents must be transferred to a larger city-approved curbside container. Curbside containers must be placed in the roadway within four feet of the curb and other cans and objects, with the lid closed and the handle facing away from the street. Containers may not be placed underneath short trees or behind mailboxes, lamp posts or parked cars, or on top of a snowbank. Containers that do not adhere to these requirements will not be picked up.
(E) Recycling collection will occur on Thursdays. Recycling will not be picked up on holidays. Recycling may be placed curbside after 8:00 p.m. the night before and no later than 6:00 a.m. the morning of collection.
(F) There will be free recycling drop-off facilities for city residents located at the Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds and the Ludlow Hill Fire Station accessible all days and times, year round.
