(A) The Chief of the Fire Department of the city is empowered at all times to enter into any house, building, or place that is kept, maintained or permitted to remain within the corporate limits of the city in such a manner as to be a menace to public safety from fire or to enter any such house, building, cellar or place as he or she shall have reasonable cause to believe is so kept, maintained or permitted to remain. The Chief is clothed with police authority to enable him or her to discharge such duty.
(B) Whenever, upon examination made pursuant to division (A), the Chief shall determine that any such house, building, cellar or place has become a menace to public safety from fire, he or she shall immediately notify the owners or occupants thereof to remedy or remove such menace at once and shall make a written report of his or her action to the Board of Public Works and Safety.
