§ 3-5-1-2. MEMBERSHIP.
   (A)   The membership of the Lawrence Plan Commission shall be as provided by I.C. 36-7-4-207(a) as follows:
      (1)   One member appointed by the City Council from its membership.
      (2)   One member appointed by the Park Board.
      (3)   One member or designated representative appointed by the City Public Works Board.
      (4)   The City Civil Engineer or a qualified assistant appointed by the City Civil Engineer.
      (5)   Five citizen members, of whom no more than three may be of the same political party, appointed by the Mayor.
   (B)   The City Clerk and the Secretary of the Park Board shall certify members appointed by their respective bodies, and the Mayor shall certify the Mayor's appointments. The certificates shall be sent to and made a part of the records of the municipal Plan Commission.
   (C)   Citizen members shall be duly qualified. Each citizen member shall be appointed because of the member's knowledge and experience in community affairs, the member's awareness of the social, economic, agricultural, and industrial problems of the area, and the member's interest in the development and integration of the area. A citizen member may not hold an elected office (as defined in I.C. 3-5-2-17); or any other appointed office in municipal, county, or state government, except in the case of an area Plan Commission, membership on the body from which the member must be appointed under state law. Members must be residents of the City of Lawrence.
