(A) The Fire Chief or his or her authorized representative is empowered to issue an order forbidding the occupancy of any structure or part of any structure, in accordance with I.C. 36-8-17-9.
(B) The failure of the City of Lawrence Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Bureau to inspect or to issue an order in accordance with this code shall not constitute approval of any violation or noncompliance with the provisions of this code.
(C) Any order issued pursuant to this section shall be served upon the owner, operator, occupant or other person responsible for the building property. Service of the order shall be by personal service, or by affixing a copy thereof in a conspicuous place at the entrance of the building or premises and/or by mailing a copy thereof to the owner or occupant by certified mail to the owner’s or occupant’s last known address pursuant to I.C. 4-21.5-3.
