§ 3-4-2-3. RIGHT TO ENTER BUILDINGS AND PREMISES.
   (A)   Pursuant to I.C. 36-8-17, authorized personnel of the City of Lawrence Fire Department may, at all reasonable hours, enter any structure (except the interiors of private dwellings) within the City of Lawrence for the purposes of conducting inspections. The right to enter shall extend to new structures under construction as well as to existing, renovated or remodeled structures. The City of Lawrence Fire Department and its authorized personnel shall have the right to enter common areas of multi-family dwellings.
   (B)   An inspector, investigator or any employee of the City of Lawrence Fire Department may be required by the owner or occupant of the property to produce satisfactory proof of his or her authority or identity.
   (C)   If an inspector, investigator or any employee of the City of Lawrence Fire Department is denied access, the Fire Prevention Chief, under the direction of the Fire Chief, may apply to a court of competent jurisdiction for an order allowing inspection or investigation.
