§ 1-2-5-8. TRAINING LEAVE POLICY.
   (A)   Employees can obtain training leaves without loss of pay for the purpose of participating in training which will increase the knowledge or efficiency of the employee in his or her position with the City. If the leave is approved, it shall not exceed 90 days.
   (B)   If the training is directly related to the service of the City, the costs of the training may be paid by the municipality.
   (C)   Long-term training leave without pay, but without loss of seniority, may be obtained by employees for the purpose of seeking a degree or otherwise furthering their education. If the leave is approved, it shall not exceed one year, subject to review of circumstances and renewal in one-year increments.
   (D)   Any training leave must be recommended in writing by the employee’s department head and approved by the Mayor.
   (E)   Payment by the City for any expenses relating to the training leave must be recommended in writing by the employee’s department head and approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety.
