(A) The new single member council district boundaries are established as follows. The references to precinct numbers listed herein refer to those areas within the Marion County precinct boundaries described in the "ORDER OF THE MAYOR OF INDIANAPOLIS (AS MARION COUNTY EXECUTIVE) REESTABLISHING PRECINCTS" signed by Mayor Joseph Hogsett on January 3, 2022 and filed with the Indiana Election Division on January 4, 2022, which order and its attachments are incorporated herein by reference.
(1) District 1. The first council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 47, Lawrence Precinct 53, Lawrence Precinct 60, Lawrence Precinct 61, Lawrence Precinct 69 and Lawrence Precinct 70.
(2) District 2. The second council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 56, Lawrence Precinct 62, Lawrence Precinct 63, Lawrence Precinct 71 and Lawrence Precinct 72.
(3) District 3. The third council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 40, Lawrence Precinct 41, Lawrence Precinct 48, Lawrence Precinct 49, Lawrence Precinct 54 and Lawrence Precinct 55.
(4) District 4. The fourth council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 50 (south of Pendleton Pike), Lawrence Precinct 57, Lawrence Precinct 58 and Lawrence Precinct 64.
(5) District 5. The fifth council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 34, Lawrence Precinct 35, Lawrence Precinct 36, Lawrence Precinct 42, Lawrence Precinct 43 and Lawrence Precinct 50 (east of Sunnyside Road, north of Pendleton Pike).
(6) District 6. The sixth council district shall include and be composed of the territory within the following county precincts: Lawrence Precinct 18, Lawrence Precinct 19, Lawrence Precinct 26, Lawrence Precinct 27, Lawrence Precinct 28 and Lawrence Precinct 29.
(B) The map or maps filed in connection with the submission of the districting plan adopted under this section shall be marked by the City Clerk as "Exhibit A" and retained with the permanent records of the ordinance adopting this section.
(C) Any deviation of precinct boundaries from census block boundaries shall be resolved by using the census block boundary. The Council reserves the right to amend or revise the descriptions of the districts set forth in this section to correct any errors, duplications or omissions in the descriptions, to conform to any corrections or revisions of the census data hereafter made by the U.S. Bureau of Census, to comply with any valid court order respecting this section, or for any other lawful purpose.
(D) The districts established in this section shall be in effect for elections to be held in 2023 and thereafter. The districts established by Ordinance No. 25, 2012 shall remain in effect only for purposes of filling vacancies in terms expiring on or before noon on January 1, 2024.
