10-2-9: CHANGES AND AMENDMENTS:
   A.   Following a public hearing and recommendation by the planning commission, the city council may amend the number, shape, boundaries, or area of any zoning district, any regulation of or within the zoning district, or any other provision of the land use ordinance, including the map. After receiving the recommendation of the planning commission and reviewing the same at a public meeting, the city council may adopt or reject the amendment as proposed by the planning commission, or after making any revision the city council considers appropriate.
   B.   Notice must be given of the date, time and place of any public hearing before the planning commission to consider an amendment to the zoning ordinance or map. Notice shall be mailed to each affected entity at least ten (10) calendar days before the public hearing, and shall be posted in at least three (3) public locations within the municipality, as well as posted on the city's official website, and also shall either be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the area at least ten (10) calendar days before the public hearing, or mailed at least three (3) days before the public hearing to each property owner whose land is directly affected by the amendment and to each adjacent landowner within two hundred feet (200') of the area affected by the amendment.
   C.   Notice must be given of each public meeting before the city council to consider the amendment. Such notice shall be given at least twenty four (24) hours before the meeting and shall either be posted in at least three (3) public locations within the city or posted on the city's official website. Nothing in this section shall prohibit the city council from holding a public hearing of its own regarding the amendment. If the city council holds a public hearing, it shall follow the notice requirements given in subsection B of this section. (Ord. 2007-25, 10-3-2007)
