A. If a suspected historic, archeological, or paleontological item, feature, or site is encountered, construction operations shall be immediately stopped near the discovery and the LaVerkin City representative shall be verbally notified of the nature and exact location of the findings. The contractor shall not damage the discovered objects and shall provide written confirmation of the discovery to the LaVerkin City representative within two (2) calendar days.
B. After operations near the discovery have been restricted, the LaVerkin City representative will keep the contractor informed concerning the status of the restriction. The contractor should be aware that the time necessary for LaVerkin City to handle the discovered item, feature, or site is variable and is dependent on the nature and condition of the discovered item, feature, or site and possible involvement of state and federal agencies. LaVerkin City's representative will verbally inform the contractor when the restriction is terminated, with written confirmation following, within two (2) calendar days. Any request by the contractor for adjustment in length of contract time shall be in accordance with the provisions outlined in LaVerkin City's change order process. (Ord. 2006-22, 7-5-2006; amd.
