Firefighters and emergency medical personnel shall act under the direction of the chief of the fire department, and shall at all times have the authority to abate, prevent or investigate the causes of fires as individually trained and qualified, and/or provide emergency medical services as individually trained and qualified, and perform all duties required of them by ordinance, resolution, or the direction of the chief of the fire department, mayor and city council.
