§ 51.02 WATER SERVICE.
   (A)   Any new house or multi-family construction or commercial construction in the town is required to connect to the town’s water system if water is available to the edge of the property. Each individual residence will be serviced by a single water meter (shared meters are not allowed on any new single or multi-family construction).
   (B)   If a house (proposed or existing) does not have water service available to the edge of the property, then the property owner(s) options are:
      (1)   To install a well on the property to service only the home and property; and
      (2)    To pay to have the water line extended to the property. The property owner will be responsible for the full cost of the extension of water line. The extension must be engineered and constructed to town specifications and be approved by both the town and state. The town, at its option, may elect to increase the size of the line and pay for the difference of the cost of material and labor or the line extension. If the line extension can make water service available to other properties that do not have water reasonably available, the town, at its sole option, can initiate a water line project and assess property owners for the cost, as per G.S. § 160A-216. Note: Laurel Park residents who have access to water service through the City of Hendersonville will follow Hendersonville's procedures and policies for water service.
