§ 31.08  ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGE.
   (A)   There is hereby created the position of LaPorte County Administrative Law Judge.
   (B)   The Administrative Law Judge shall be an individual appointed by the Board of Commissioners and approved by the County Attorney who is licensed to practice law in the State of Indiana.
   (C)   The Administrative Law Judge shall be the hearing officer for the LaPorte County Code Enforcement as provided in I.C. 36-1-6-9.  The Administrative Law Judge shall hear and decide Code Enforcement cases arising under ordinances as set forth in division (D) below.  The decision of the Administrative Law Judge shall be final, subject to appeal, as set forth in I.C. 36-1-6-9(e) and (f).  The Administrative Law Judge may impose no penalty other than a fine, in an amount within the limits set forth in I.C. 36-1-3-8(10), or as set forth in the section being enforced, whichever is less.
   (D)   The following chapters may be enforced through administrative proceedings, had before the Administrative Law Judge:
      (1)   Chapter 94, Animals;
      (2)   Chapter 95, Abandoned and Junk Vehicles; and
      (3)    Chapter 151, Building Code.
