7-2-3: WATERCRAFT OPERATIONS REGULATED:
Watercraft usage on Lake Marion is subject to the following requirements:
   A.   Slow Minimum Wake Speed Zone: It shall be unlawful for any watercraft to be operated faster than the slow minimum wake speed in a slow minimum wake speed zone. (Ord. 351, sec. 4, 9-6-1988)
   B.   Speed Zone: The maximum speed limit in a speed zone shall be forty (40) miles per hour except that any watercraft within two hundred feet (200') of anchored fishermen, trolling fishermen, nonpowered watercraft, buoys, docks, or swimmers shall travel at a slow minimum wake speed.
   C.   Traffic Patterns: All watercraft, whether or not pulling water skiers, shall travel in a counterclockwise direction of the "first lake" as indicated on Lake Marion surface map, except that any watercraft launching or landing a person on skis, aquaplane, or similar device may do so by the most direct route to open water.
   D.   Time Restrictions: From sunset until sunrise, watercraft shall not tow a person on water skis, aquaplane, or similar devices. (Ord. 714, sec. 1, 6-3-2002)
   E.   Slow No Wake Requirement: All of Lake Marion shall be subject to a slow no wake requirement for any person operating a watercraft as defined in Minnesota statutes, section 86B.005, subdivision 18, when the level of the lake exceeds 983.6 feet.
The restrictions shall become effective upon posting at the public access, posting at city hall, and upon other notice to the residents abutting Lake Marion, and it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a watercraft anywhere on Lake Marion in excess of the slow minimum wake speed, defined by this subsection as the slowest speed possible while still maintaining steerage control.
When high water levels have subsided and have remained below an elevation of 983.6 feet, for three (3) consecutive days, said restrictions may be removed, as evidenced by removal of the posted notices. (Ord. 643, sec. 2, 1-19-1999)
