(A) As determined by the Minnesota Department of Transportation or for such other periods of time as may be authorized by resolution of the city from time to time, the weight on any single axle shall not exceed five tons on any municipal Street not otherwise restricted as provided in M.S. § 169.87, subd. 1, as it may be amended from time to time. The gross weight on consecutive axles shall not exceed the gross weight allowed in M.S. § 169.822, as it may be amended from time to time, multiplied by a factor of five divided by nine. This reduction shall not apply to the gross vehicle weight.
(B) The provisions hereof shall not apply to emergency vehicles and public utility vehicles responding to requests for assistance, school buses, garbage trucks or other vehicles specifically authorized by prior written approval of the Roads Commissioner of the city. The Roads Commissioner of the city shall erect and maintain signs at reasonable locations within the city affecting notice of the seasonal road restrictions imposed herein.
