Whenever the difference in elevation from the flowline of the highest inflow pipe to the flowline of the exit pipe exceeds 2' in any manhole, a drop manhole shall be installed. This manhole shall incorporate a vertical shoot of the same diameter (or larger) as the high incoming pipe(s) to convey the sewage to a point within 0.5' (6") of the outlet flowline. This is done to prevent excessive splashing in the manhole in order to reduce noise and odor.
