The process of Annexation expands the exterior boundaries of the city. Properties adjacent to the current City may be annexed into the city limits by voluntary petition followed by the formal annexation process. In limited cases, land may be annexed involuntarily. Often, City services are not offered to areas that have not been annexed. Therefore, such areas desiring city services shall be required to annex (if adjacent to the existing city limits) prior to platting.
