§ 32.05 LOST PROPERTY.
   The Police Department shall accept custody of lost articles having a value of $5 or more, delivered to them and the Department shall maintain a record of each article, giving its description, the time and place found and the name and address of the finder. Any such article held by the Department for 90 days or longer during which period the same is not claimed by the owner, shall be returned to the finder and if not claimed by said finder shall be sold at public auction and the proceeds, less the expenses of storage and sale, shall be deposited with the Treasurer. Prior to sale of any article a notice of such sale shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the village once a week for three successive weeks. Such notice shall describe the article or articles to be sold unless claimed by the owner or owners thereof prior to. No such article shall be sold earlier than one month subsequent to the first publication of such notice of sale.
