§ 5.06 DISASTER DECLARATION.
   A local disaster may be declared in the village only by the Mayor or his or her interim emergency successor as provided in § 7 of the Emergency Interim Executive Succession Act. It shall not be continued or renewed for a period in excess of seven days except by the consent of the Board of Trustees. Any order or proclamation declaring, continuing, or terminating a local disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the Village Clerk in accordance with the Emergency Management Agency Act, being ILCS Ch. 20, Act 3305, §§ 1 et seq. The effect of the declaration of a local disaster is to activate the emergency operations plan and to authorize the furnishing of aid and assistance to mitigate said disaster.
