(A) Creation. A Plan & Zoning Commission is hereby established for the village as is authorized by and in accordance with ILCS Ch. 65, Act 5, §§ 11-12-4 et seq.
(B) Members. The Plan & Zoning Commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the President and confirmed by the Board of Trustees. The President and the Chairperson of the Zoning Board of Appeals shall be members ex officio of the Commission.
(C) Terms. Plan & Zoning Commission members shall serve for five years and vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired terms only.
(D) Organization. As soon as possible after their appointment, the members of the Plan & Zoning Commission shall organize by the election from their membership of a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and such other officers as may, in their judgment, be necessary; except that, the members of such Commission may appoint and designate a person other than a member of the Commission to be Secretary of the Commission. All the members and officers of the Commission shall receive $50 per meeting; except that, if the Board of Trustees deems it advisable, the Secretary may receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by the Board of Trustees, and provided for in the appropriation ordinance. If the Plan & Zoning Commission shall deem it advisable to secure technical advice or service of any nature, or incur expense in connection with the carrying on of its work, it may do so upon authority from the Board of Trustees and appropriation by the Village Board therefor.
