§ 69 PIPE FITTINGS.
   (A)   General. All pipe fittings shall be clearly marked with the name or trademark of the manufacturer. All pipe and fittings shall be suitable for 150 psi working pressure.
   (B)   Cast and ductile iron.
      (1)   Cast iron pipe. Cast iron pipe shall be in accordance with ANSI Standards A21.6. Pipe shall be laid in accordance with ANSI Standard A21.1. Thickness class shall be governed by design conditions.
      (3)   Fittings. Cast and ductile iron pipe fittings shall conform to ANSI Standard A21.10.
      (4)   Joints.
         (a)   "Push-on" and mechanical type joints shall be in accordance with ANSI Standard A21.11.
         (b)   Restrained joint assemblies with mechanical joint pipe shall be ductile iron mechanical joint retainer glands.
         (c)   Flanged connections shall be in accordance with ANSI Standard B16.6, 125 lb. standards.
      (5)   Coatings and linings. Cast and ductile iron pipe and fittings shall receive an interior and exterior bituminous coating as specified in ANSI Specifications A21.6, A21.8, or A21.51, and shall be cement mortar lined and bituminous sealed in accordance with ANSI Standard A21.4.
   (C)   Polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
      (1)   Pipe fittings shall be manufactured from clean virgin Type 1, Grade I rigid, unplasticized polyvinyl chloride resin conforming to ASTM Designation D1785. The pipe shall bear the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) seal for potable water pipe. Pipe shall have minimum standard dimension ratio (SDR) of 21 (ASTM D2241) for water.
      (2)   Connections for pipe 1-1/2 inches in diameter and larger shall be rubber compression ring type. Pipe shall be extruded with integral thickened wall bells without increase in SDR. Usage of twin gasket coupling type pipe will be allowed as long as its quality is comparable to that of the integral bell type. Rubber ring gaskets shall consist of synthetic compound meeting the requirements of ASTM Designation D1869, and suitable for the designated service. Other connections shall be solvent welded sleeve type joints.
   (D)   Polyethylene plastic pipe. Tubing shall comply with ASTM Designations D-1248 (Materials), D-2737 (Tubing), be approved for potable water service by the National Sanitation Foundation and bear the NSF seal. The product shall be rated for a minimum working pressure of 150 psi and the standard dimension ratio (SDR) shall not exceed nine for copper tube size. Fittings shall be brass, equipped with compression type connections.
   (E)   Special items.
      (1)   Tapping saddles. Tapping saddles shall be fabricated of ductile iron and suitable for either wet or dry installation and shall be as manufactured by Mueller Corporation or approved equal. The sealing gasket shall be the "O" ring type suitable for the applicable service. Outlet flange shall be ANSI B16.1, 125 lb. standard. The straps and bolts shall be a corrosion resistant alloy steel.
