§ 7 HANDICAPPED ACCESS.
   (A)   Access pathway. Access to each principal building shall be provided from rights-of-way and parking areas by means of a pathway leading to at least one entrance generally used by the public. This pathway shall be clear of all obstructions related to construction activity, prior to the opening of the building to the public. Where curbs exist along the pathway, as between a parking lot surface and a sidewalk surface inclined curb approaches or curbcuts having a gradient of not more than one foot in 12 feet, and a width of not less than five feet, shall be provided for access by wheelchairs.
   (B)   Parking space reserved for handicapped. A parking lot servicing each entrance pathway required by this appendix shall have level parking spaces reserved for physically handicapped persons in the following amounts:

   (C)   Design standards for reserved spaces. Reserved parking spaces shall be not less than 12 feet in width, and shall be identified by above-grade signs as being reserved for physically handicapped persons. An access aisle of not less than five feet in width shall abut each handicapped parking space. These spaces shall be located as close as possible to elevators, ramps, walkways, and entrances. Parking spaces should be located so that physically handicapped persons are not compelled to wheel or to walk behind parked cars to reach entrances, ramps, walkways, and elevators. Handicapped access shall be provided in accordance with F.S. Ch. 553, Part V.
