The Historical Commission may:
(A) Recommend to the Mayor and City Commission upon its own initiative or upon petition of municipalities or historical societies, that Lake Mary mark by proper monuments, tablets or markers, the location of forts, Indian mounds, villages, camps or other places in Lake Mary where historical events have occurred.
(B) Recommend that the city acquire, restore, protect and preserve properties, sites, locations and places relative and pertinent to the history of Lake Mary and Florida.
(C) Recommend, on its own initiative, that the Mayor and City Commission on special occasions, or in conjunction with national, state and local holidays, promote, arrange, produce and conduct, expositions, celebrations and educational programs, concerning and touching upon the historical occasions, achievements and pioneer days of the people, citizens, local governments of the city, state and the United States of America, the colonists, and the founding fathers.
(D) Recommend that the Mayor and City Commission, co-sponsor, promote, assist and jointly conduct historic site surveys, expositions, commemorations and celebrations, in conjunction and in cooperation with local, state and national societies, organizations and governmental agencies.
(E) Recommend that the Mayor and City Commission publish and distribute books, pamphlets, newsletters and other publications, concerning national, state, county and local history, archeology, historical genealogy, government institutions and societies, and concerning the programs, work, duties and operation of the Historical Commission.
(F) Promote and assist in the creation, program and work of local historical, archeological and genealogical societies.
(G) Recommend that the Mayor and City Commission create, operate and maintain museums and public displays of archives and artifacts for the education of the general public and citizens of the city.
