The City Commission by a majority vote, shall elect from among its membership a Deputy Mayor who shall serve as Mayor during the absence or disability of the Mayor. If a vacancy in the office of Mayor occurs, the Deputy Mayor shall serve as Mayor until the next regular election, at which a Mayor shall be elected to complete the original unexpired term. At such time, the Deputy Mayor shall cease to serve as Mayor and shall resume the office of commissioner/deputy mayor to which he was elected.
