The provisions of this chapter do not apply if the minor’s presence is occasioned by his or her attendance at or returning from functions sponsored by or related to religious, school, civic or nonprofit organizations, including but not limited to services, classes, meetings, dances, social events, dramatic or musical performances and sporting events, with the permission of a parent, guardian or other person 21 years or older having legal care or custody of the minor.
