§ 2.60.060 UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE.
   A.   The unclassified service includes employees in positions where administrative necessity dictates that the positions be responsive and accountable to city policy or are temporary and provisional in nature. The unclassified service includes the following:
      1.   Elected officials;
      2.   Volunteers and personnel appointed to serve without pay;
      3.   Consultants, contract employees, and counsel rendering professional services;
      4.   Those who render temporary, provisional, seasonal, special assignment, or on-call services;
      5.   Temporary full-time employees filling in for employees on authorized leave. (If temporary assignment lasts for more than 6 months, these employees may receive the same benefits, including insurance and paid leave, as regular employees beginning the seventh month of their employment. However, they remain 'unclassified' and temporary for all other purposes); and
      6.   New, probationary employees.
   B.   The grievance procedure and right of appeal do not apply to unclassified employees.
   C.   All unclassified employees shall take the loyalty oath or affirmation as required by state law.
